We hosted our “Frosty February” FinTech Breakfast on a chilly morning in New York City’s Midtown Manhattan. With over 25 executives and investors from the broader InsurTech and FinTech sectors, the successful event drew in professionals from both large and emerging growth firms across the insurance services and technology spaces, including PartnerRe and The Guarantors. Others in attendance were financial and strategic investors from IA Capital Group, Barclays Strategic Investments, Citi Ventures, SandBox and Hearst Financial Venture Fund.

Evolve actively works on opportunities in the InsurTech space and hosted the event to bring together high growth companies, strategic investment funds, and large companies which participate in the sector. This private, invitation-only event allows companies and investors to develop relationships and exchange opportunities in a comfortable environment. A few noteworthy takeaways from the discussion include:

• Legacy insurance carriers and reinsurers are investing in technology to curb rising costs associated with customer acquisition and outdated infrastructure and systems.
• Tech-enabled TPAs/MGAs are increasingly becoming attractive acquisition targets because they can provide additional sales and distribution channels.
• InsurTech companies are focused on enhancing the customer’s insurance shopping experience and leveraging customer data so carriers are better able to underwrite risk.
